Description

Up for sale is a used Vintage Green Label Made In Taiwan Boss CE-2 Chorus pedal in good condition.
Boss serial number decoder states a build date of May 1990. The pedal has minor cosmetic and functional issues but still works and sounds great.
This CE-2 has the famous MN3007 bucket brigade chip, MN3101 clock driver, and JRC4558DD Op Amp, as well as an internal trim pot.

Here is a summary of the known issues with this pedal:
-The original knobs are gone and have been replaced at some point with gold top aftermarket knobs (NOS knobs are available for sale on eBay, Reverb, etc..).
-There is some sort of air bubble on the rubber stomp pad that I’ve never seen before on any other Boss pedal. It doesn’t move or affect the functionality of the pedal in any way (NOS pads are available for sale on eBay, Reverb, etc..).
-The original O-Ring has worn out and has been recently replaced with a NOS Boss O-Ring for smoother switching action (The original worn out O-Ring is also included).
-This is one of the original ACA powered Boss pedals that takes 12V power instead of the PSA 9V. I have found that even with a professional 12V adapter or power supply powering the pedal it only produces about 90-95% of it’s output potential and has a dim LED illumination. When it is powered by a 9V battery it functions at 100% power, has a bright LED, and sounds incredible. I will include a brand new Duracell 9V battery with the pedal so you can see/hear the difference for yourself.

I’ve owned a bunch of these pedals, including several Black Label MIJ versions, and IMO this one sounds just as good, if not better. It definitely sounds better IMO than the CE-2 setting on the newer Waza Craft CE-2W Chorus, especially with single coil guitars. It’s the cheaper buffer in the vintage CE-2’s that create that beautiful enhanced mid range and presence that the other ones simply cannot reproduce.
Not to mention many of the CE-2 clones out there have that loud metal stomp switch that prevents you from silently taking the Chorus in and out of your tone. I really hate those switches lol.
The ACA adapter input may just need to be cleaned with Deoxit, but it may also need to be repaired/replaced. I just don’t know for sure.
Many of the CE-2’s that are available for sale today ship from Japan, this one ships from the U.S.A. to the U.S.A.. Don’t risk an extended shipping time, or even worse, an unexpected customs fee from Japan!
